About the Candidate

Bill Hine has resided with his wife, Cathy Hazelton, on the Green Woods Road in Peru since 1982. He is a native of Springfield, MA, and a graduate of Yale College (1971, B.A. cum laude in Culture & Behavior). He first moved to Maine in 1977 to work year-round at Camp Susan Curtis (East Stoneham), a camp for deserving Maine youngsters supported by the Susan L. Curtis Foundation in Portland. Bill and Cathy are avid hikers/backpackers and long-time volunteer trail maintainers for the White Mountain National Forest and the Maine Appalachian Trail Club. In an earlier life, Bill ran in 19 consecutive Boston Marathons.

He is the father of Larissa (Juniata College '06) and Brett (Bates College '08).
